I am 71 years of age and I have been working as an artist since 2011 and have been on various courses in Carcassone, France, Tuscany Italy and with the St Ives School of Painting. I have an A level in Art Appreciation. Taking all kinds of art techniques from the courses and use masking fluid and vitro acrylics made by Pebeo to do all kinds of affects with acrylics and watercolours.
I am an exhibiting member of both the Dedham Art Society and Battle Art Group and exhibit extensively in Essex and East Sussex.
I enjoy teaching and passing on my knowledge. In February 2019 I helped to run a Festival in Brightlingsea called Winterfest I sat with 6 students each session and gave them a stencil which I set up for them to work on and they produced their own masterpieces to take home.
I particularly fulfilling experience involved tutoring eight students for a workshop at the Horatio Gardens in Stoke Mandeville hospital. I decided that exhibitions are good but working with disabilities was very, very rewarding. The participants were all from the spinal injury department and in wheelchairs. I set up the workshop so that they all had a sheet to work from in my style. It was hard work but, as I have said, very rewarding. I think it could work in other large hospitals as therapy for the patients.
